Frequently asked questions (faqs)

back to About us
  • Is swimming or boating allowed in Corbara Lake?
Officially it is prohibited, because the lake is a storage reservoir. You will also not be able to find an official mooringplace. More importantly, the water comes from the Tiber river (which is still also used as a sewer): for health reasons alone, we very much advise against swimming or boating on the lake.
  • We have two kids of 5 and 8. Are there enough other kids around to play with?
Just have a look at the photos in this site. We mostly have (older or younger) couples without kids or families the majority of which have younger kids, let's say up to fourteen or fifteen years old.

  • Is there enough to do for them?
If they are happy to play in a quiet surroundings with whatever they find and if a game of tabletennis or going for a swim is enough for them, they will have a great time. If they (or the parents) expect animation programmes or dance parties, they will be severely disappointed.
On the other hand, 100 metres down the road there is a sports centre (entrance € 5,-) with a football-pitch and a large swimming-pool where they can do more sports.

  • Is there an animation-programme or disco at night?
No, afraid not. Our motto is peace and quiet. Moreover, our public doesn't appreciate that. The only sounds you hear after 21.30 are the chirping of an occasional cricket and the ploink of a winebottle that is getting uncorked.
  • We don't like to get a pitch near the swimming-pool because of the noise. Is that possible?
That is possible, we like to listen to our guests. However, the swimming-pool is on the highest part of the campsite, so you will hardly notice it. We close the swimming-pool at 19.00 hrs every day.

  • How frequently do you check the quality of the swimming-water?
We do that every night after 19.00 hrs. Inceidentally, we do not use chloride, but a solvent on the basis of salt that is better for our guests and the environment.

  • Is wearing a bathing-cap obligatory?
Yes, in Italy it is the law, so you cannot do without. You can buy them at our mini-market.
  • Have you got a large pitch of at least 100 m2?
At the bottom of the site, in the lowest part, there are certainly a few pitches that have this size or even a bit larger. There are also slightly smaller ones.
The larger pitches are reserved on the basis of their booking-dates. We only have a few of them, so you will have to be quick about booking these pitches.

  • Have you got shaded pitches?
We only have one pitch that is 80 per cent in the shade. The rest of the pitches are shaded either in the morning or in the late afternoon. Do not forget the campsite is in an olive-tree orchard. Olive-trees are not really big trees with dense foliage. But they do filter the sunlight, so there is always a place in your pitch with some shade. Plus: the terrace near the reception is covered and you will always find shade (and a cool drink) there.

  • How hot is it in the campsite in summer?
We're on an altitude of 520 meters, so it is always cooler than lower in the plains, especially at night. When there is no wind at all it can be hot at times, but mostly there is a cool breeze coming up the hill from the lake. Our clients find the climate very pleasant.

  • Does every pitch have electricity?
Yes, every pitch has electricity (3 Amp) and drinking-water. Both are included in the price.
Please consult Amenities for a full description of the campsite.
  • Can we take our dog?
No problem at all, as we don't think people will take their dog on a holiday if it is not well-trained. But you have to inform us first and you have to keep it on a leash at all times.
  • Is booking advisable?
For a bungalow: always. For a pitch: if you're planning to be with us in July or August: yes, booking is most advisable. And when you need a lot of space it is even necessary to book well ahead. Our policy is to grant everyone enough room to feel comfortable. That means we stop accepting bookings when the pitches are reserved. In that way we keep our guests happy. You can check availability online (xls).

  • Is there a restaurant nearby?
Yes, in the village there is a good place to buy and eat fresh pizzas and there is also one of the best restaurants of the region (roughly 40 to 50 euros per person, ex wine). Walking to the village is easy; once you are on the road it is not a steep walk, let’s say ten minutes on foot. In Out and About > restaurants you will find more information.

  • What does the menu service entail?
In the high season, the renowned restaurant of Trippini cooks a meal and delivers it to the campsite around 19.00 hrs. Guests can pick up their pre-ordered menu at the reception and enjoy it on their pitch. That's why we call it a menu service: there is no restaurant setting on the campsite itself.
